Post Level 4: Principal – Sathya Sai School Chatsworth

Position Requirements:

• Principal with vast experience of managing schools
• B.Ed degree or any professional teaching qualification (minimum)
• At least 7 years of experience in the post or equivalent
• SSSEHV Qualification (mandatory; training available via the Institute if not yet qualified)

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create and achieve a Sri Sathya Sai Model School for developing human excellence, with professional excellence and leadership grounded in Sathya Sai philosophy and pedagogy
• Provide encouragement and responsible leadership to staff, students and parents; communicate clearly, with tact and fair judgement
• Guide educators to reach their goals; manage school records, curriculum and assessment portfolios, performance management and monitoring feedback to SAISSE and the Education Trust
• Handle official correspondence and furnish returns and information required by the State Government or Board
• Ensure tuition fees are paid and take appropriate follow-up; supervise teaching and non-teaching staff and scrutiny of learners’ work
• Support teachers’ professional growth, in-service education, initiative and sound educational innovation
• Arrange remedial support where needed; organise co-curricular activities; report learner progress to parents or guardians
• Promote learners’ physical wellbeing, high standards of cleanliness and healthy habits

Aim of the Position:

• Meet requirements of the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation, the National Department of Education and Umalusi
• Promote a school ethos aligned with Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings and the five human values
• Provide leadership and management that deliver quality education and positive learning experiences for all learners
• Engage in class teaching and administrative, educational, spiritual and disciplinary duties; nurture a climate where human values unfold
• Implement a curriculum integrating Sathya Sai Educare and Integral Education; support lesson planning that embeds the human values where appropriate
• Oversee counselling, guidance, discipline and attendance; maintain a safe, secure environment for teaching and learning
• Champion School Development and Improvement Plans; report resource and infrastructure needs to the SSET
• Inspect premises and assets; support the Trust on budgeting, enrolment, fees and data for planning
• Liaise with the SSET on administration, accounting, equipment and statistics; build community–school partnerships

Interaction with Stakeholders:

• Participate in appraisal and review of professional practice to improve teaching, learning and management
• Stay informed on curriculum and educational thinking; collaborate and share knowledge with colleagues
• Assist educators with integrating human values through the indirect method
• Participate in the school’s governing body; attend SSSEHV workshops (SAISSSE) and curriculum workshops (National Department)
• Network with other Sathya Sai schools, partnership schools and secular schools locally and internationally
